Strategies for Using Language Politeness on Virtual Learning at BPSDMD Central Java Province

This research on politeness and language or linguistic politeness in the virtual teaching-learning process at BPSDMD Central Java Province aims to provide an overview of the application of distant language and close language in virtual verbal interactions between Widyaiswara BPSDMD Central Java as speakers and students as hearers or participants in virtual classes using the Zoom platform. The data corpus was taken using transcription techniques, and qualitative data in the form of utterances (words or sentences) in virtual verbal interactions obtained were then analyzed using coding techniques through the QDA (qualitative data analysis) Nvivo software. The results of the analysis were then categorized into Table displays, Word Clouds, and Word Trees that were adjusted to the phenomenon of distant language and close language in virtual verbal interactions. The research findings show that the use of distant language and close language strategies are both applied in virtual verbal interactions based on particular contexts in order to maintain harmony between Widyaiswara and students in virtual training or teaching-learning process at BPSDMD Central Java Province.
